Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Center for Study of Maratha History (CSMCSMH) (Department Association) (MA-1)
Maratha History (1600-1818) is a significant epoch in the history of Maharashtra and India. Though Maratha History was studied only with political perspective in the beginning, now-a-days, it is being studied and researched with socio-economical, religious-cultural aspects. The dept. of History formed a study center with the similar approach. It is founded to, (1) create interest in Maratha History, (2) create a research culture among students, (3) encourage students for referencing and documentation, (4) train students in project writing and its presentation, (5) publish students' research, (6) sign MoU with similar associations.
Students enrolled in the center, under the supervision of the faculty, prepare projects on various areas of Maratha History and submit to the department.
Field Projects (MA-2)
Generally, everybody is aware of World/European/Indian histories; the bookshelves in any library can supplement that. However, we are always unaware of the history of our own surrounding. Hence, dept. of History introduced a concept of 'Local History' and encouraged students to prepare Local History Projects on their own villages. This concept is aimed to, (1) encourage students to know their own roots, (2) understand nature of historical sources and methodology to study them, (3) train students in field work, (4) train students in the techniques of interview, (5) train students in documentation of sources. Students enrolled with this program, under the supervision of the faculty prepare projects on their own surroundings or neighborhoods and submit to the department.
