During the last decade of the 20th century, we came to know that Hatkanangale (though a Taluka Place) had two major problems: lack of Higher Educational institution and the scarcity of Water facility. No doubt, there were a few educational institutions in Hatkanangale but they were engaged in offering school education (i.e. up to secondary school education- up to 10th class) only and not the higher education. Moreover it was noticed that the students from the weaker sections of the society, children of sugar-cane workers and industry labors didn’t afford the education due to several factors including schools fees and commuting facilities. Therefore our institution-Sant Dnyaneshwar Shikshan Sanstha, Islampur that came into exist in 1986 with the motto of “Let the ignorance of darkness be dispelled” (दुरितांचे तिमिर जावो) - came forward with strong determination of offering good and quality education that would be affordable to all in Hatkanangale Taluka. With this dream, we started residential school offering education upto 10th standard at first on the present campus and then laid the foundation of Junior and Senior College in June 1998 in order to impart skill-based, value adding quality education through the streams of arts, commerce and science. To achieve the certain goals (such as developing society through quality education, spreading education among the girl students and students from the deprived community, creating awareness about environment preservation, developing scientific approach and inculcating the sense of selfless service towards society in the student), Hon. Shri. Annasaheb Dange Arts, Commerce and Science College Hatkanangale has been making constant and continuous efforts since its establishment. 

At the initial stage, we started only traditional courses under the Arts and Commerce streams and after receiving the status of grantable college, we took a forwarding step to introduce some professional self-financed courses. As a result, the college introduced Bachelor of Computer Application degree program in 2007, then in 2010, we introduced Post Graduation program in History, then in 2016 the college started BSC and PG in Commerce , and then in 2017, one more PG program i.e. MA in English was introduced. In 2023, BBA course was introduced. Thus, at present our college runs traditional, professional as well as self-financed programs in a full-fledged way.
 
Besides the Higher Education, the campus of this college has a learning ambience from KG to PG as it includes English Medium Pre-Primary School, Residential Primary and Secondary Schools, Junior College, Senior College (UG) and PG programs in History, English and Advanced Accountancy.
