Capacity Building Program

The Department of Geography has successfully implemented a series of capacity building programmes aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of students and faculty. These programmes have included field projects, study tours, seminars, workshops, and practical exercises. Over the years, field projects such as the study of organic farming in Alte Village, population and geographical studies in Majle Village, and sugarcane crop residue management in Kumbhoj Village have provided hands-on learning experiences. Study tours to historically and geographically significant locations like Panhala, Marleshwar, and Ganapatipule have further enriched students' understanding of geographical phenomena and local cultures. These initiatives have collectively contributed to a practical and immersive learning environment, fostering both academic and personal growth among students.

In addition to fieldwork and tours, the department has hosted numerous seminars and workshops to address contemporary issues and professional opportunities. Notable events include the webinar on the spatial distribution of COVID-19 and its environmental impacts, the groundwater awareness and recharge workshop, and the national seminar on the development and challenges of Indian agriculture. These events have not only broadened students' and faculty's perspectives but also facilitated networking with experts and professionals. The inclusion of students' presentations and practical problem-solving sessions has further enhanced their research, analytical, and presentation skills. Overall, the capacity building programmes have been instrumental in preparing students for real-world challenges and opportunities in geography, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive educational experience.
